Lowveld National Botanical Gardens
The Lowveld National Botanical Gardens is spectacularly situated on the confluence of the Nels and Crocodile Rivers, just outside town. The garden has one of the most comprehensive cycad gardens in the world. A must see to all visitors to the lowveld.
Wild Horses (Kaapsehoop)
23 Kilometers from Nou's Toeka, you will find a mystical little town Kaapsehoop, where you are likely to catch a glimpse of at least one of the approximately 160 to 200 feral horses roaming the 17 000 hectares of Kaapsehoop and surrounding areas. Book an outride or simply enjoy the fresh mountain air from the stoep of one of the Tea Garden/Coffee shops.
Birding (Kaapsehoop)
The Kaapsehoop area offers protection to between nine and twelve pairs of the globally threatened Blue Swallow and is designated as an Important Bird Area. Kaapsehoop is a good locality to see Southern African bird endemics, an asterisk in the text marks these species.
The Jane Goodall Institute CHIMPANZEE Eden
JGI Chimpanzee Eden is one of many homes globally for displaced chimpanzees. This is on a 1000 hectare game reserve just a stones throw from Nelspruit.
